Ultimate Bed Holster Review

After we questioned the reliability of the Velcro on the Ultimate Bed Holster, the makers were quick to defend it—even going out of their way to send us a complimentary copy.

We won’t redact our previous concerns of sleeping with a gun encased in Velcro inches from where you rest your head. However, we will provide an honest review of the safety and sturdiness of the holster itself. Resident holster enthusiast Dan Lamb took the Ultimate Bed Holster home and tested it out. Read his take below.

The most interesting aspect of the Ultimate Bed Holster? Its pro is the same as its con. The purpose of a bedside holster is to quickly accommodate you in a time of need. And that quick availability can very well be a detriment. It could also be a huge advantage.

The reason why I thought about this so much is because I have a small child in the house. The last thing I want is for children to have easy access to my firearm. That being said, nobody says you have to use the Ultimate Bed Holster for guns. I plan on popping in my remote and perhaps a bottle of water or two.

Concerns aside, I found the holster itself to be incredibly sturdy and quite reliable. The plexiglass. The Velcro. Actually the Velcro straps themselves are super well-made and have extra reinforcement. At first I thought the width of the Velcro was overboard; then I realized that the Velcro actually covers the trigger, which is a nice safety feature.

Even though it’s not necessarily a revolutionary product (seems like a do-it-yourselfer), I plan to use it when I go hunting. It will be great to bring along for a hotel stay or even inside a camper. That way, when you wake up and you don’t know where you are, you’ll at least have the comfort of having your weapon right by your side.

All in all, if you’re a gun enthusiast and have a spouse that could care less about having a loaded gun at your bedside, it’s just fine. However, there is zero safety to it; there is no check and balance. You don’t have to think before you just reach down and grab the gun.
